When India gained independence from British rule in 1947, Delhi was declared the capital city and the seat of government. The city, planned by Edwin Lutyens - a leading 20th century British architect, is known for its wide, tree-lined boulevards and numerous national institutions and historic landmarks. These icons are testimony to the grandeur of the past and also serve as major attractions for visitors to the city.
Owing to the migration of people from across the country, Delhi has grown to be a cosmopolitan metropolis. Its rapid development and urbanisation, coupled with the relatively high average income of its population, has transformed the city completely. Today Delhi is a major cultural, political, and commercial center of India.

India Gate - This freestanding arch designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens was built in 1931 in memory of the 90,000 soldiers of the Indian Army who died in World War I. An eternal flame is lit here to honour the immortal soldiers. It is around 10 kms from the hotel.

Rashtrapati Bhawan - The official residence of the President of India, this 340 rooms heritage building was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens. It was the official residence of the Viceroy when the British ruled India. It is located within 11 kms of the hotel.

Old Fort - Citadel of Humayun, the second Mughal Emperor, this fort is located on a small hill and serves as a venue for a spectacular sound and light show that traces the history of Delhi.

Lotus Temple – Within a kilometer of the hotel, this Bahai House of worship is built in the shape of a lotus blossom. At this architectural marvel, scriptures from all religions of the world are read here during prayer service.

Red Fort - A historical fort, built in 1638, it was the seat of the Mughal rulers of India, till the last Emperor was dethroned. The fort houses a museum of arms and armour from the Mughal period till the First World War. An evening sound & light show, captures the history of the fort which a convenient 15kms away from the hotel.

Jama Masjid - Built in 1656, Jama Masjid, the country's largest mosque, is a flawless piece of architecture. Located opposite the Red Fort, it is the grandest example of a three-domed mosque.

Humayun's Tomb - A memorial of the Mughal emperor Humayun, the spectacular red and white building is said to be the inspiration behind the construction of Taj Mahal at Agra. The imposing tomb with its lofty gateway sits in the center of a huge landscaped garden. Located within 10 kms of the hotel.

Jantar Mantar  - Built by Raja Mansingh to study time and undertake astrological research, this unique monument is located just behind Parliament Street, off Connaught Place, approximately 12 kms from the hotel.

Qutab Minar - A towering testimonial for the amazing architectural dexterity of the bygone era, Qutab Minar stands nearly 73 meters high, with balconies on its 5 storeys affording sweeping views of the surroundings. Initiated in 1193 by King Qutab-ud-din- Aibak, it is today a UNESCO World Heritage monument. Qutab Minar is 10 kms away from the hotel.

National Museum - Located on Janpath, the museum is home to rare archaeological, historical and cultural artifacts from all over India. It also houses a 'Maritime Heritage Gallery' set up by Indian Navy. The museum regularly hosts traveling exhibitions from other countries. This museaum is located at around 12 kms from the hotel.

National Rail Museum - A rail buff's delight, the museum, within 15 kms of the hotel, houses locomotives and carriages ranging over 150 years. The star attraction is the Fairy Queen, built in 1855, and considered to be the best preserved steam locomotive engines of her age. Children can enjoy a ride on the miniature rail track.

National Gallery of Modern Art - Located near India Gate, the gallery features works of contemporary artists from India and abroad. It also houses a permanent section of renowned Indian painters and artists and an art reference library. Distance from the hotel is around 12 kms.

Dolls' Museum - Located on Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, the museum houses the country's largest collection of dolls from all over the world. At only 14 kms form the hotel, this museum is worth a visit.

State Emporia Complex - Off Connaught Place, the complex houses emporiums from different states of the country, each showcasing the art and crafts from the state. An enchanting array of products – from exquisite jewellery to hand carved idols, offers a complete shopping experience, within 13kms of the hotel.

Dilli Haat - A rural style market place with stalls set up craftsmen from around the country, selling traditional fabrics, handicrafts, jewellery and furniture. The Haat is a wonderful place to taste the varied cuisine of all the Indian states.

Santushti Complex - This plus shopping complex houses designer boutiques selling selective handicrafts, silverware, leather, clothes, paintings etc.

By Air

Delhi is well connected with every part of the world as well as India through air. The most important airport is the Indira Gandhi International Airport near Palam. All major carriers operate their domestic flights from the domestic terminal here. The international terminal links Delhi to all other international cities. The other airbase in Delhi is in Safdarjung, which is used mainly by various flying clubs and helicopters.

By Rail

Delhi is very well connected by rail with all parts of India. Though Delhi has five railway stations, the New Delhi Station and the Old Delhi station are the major ones. Some major trains like the Mumbai-Rajdhani-Nizamuddin operates from Nizamuddin railway station. The other two stations in Delhi are Sarai Rohilla and Railway Cantonment stations.

By Road

The Delhi Metro, constructed and operated by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), connects the city with the rest of the metropolis of Delhi.

Delhi is also well connected with bus services of Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and state roadways of neighbouring states like Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, to all important cities and destinations in North India. National Highways passing through Delhi play a major role in communication and trade, thus making Delhi an important commercial hub.
