Laid down by the Lodhi dynasty, Ludhiana has always been a city of importance and continues to do so. Today, it is one of the fastest growing industrial cities in the country. It was laid to commemorate the place where Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji had rested while he was encountering a massive attack. Pir-i-Dastgir is also a shrine that draws a lot of pilgrims. The Punjab Agricultural University Museum is a well-known place of interest in Ludhiana. It houses a good collection of old items typical of Punjab. In fact the building itself is a replica of traditional Punjabi houses. Bhir is an important mosque here built by the legendary Mohammad Ghori.
