Getting There

Laid down by the Lodhi dynasty, Ludhiana has always been a city of importance and continues to do so. Today, it is one of the fastest growing industrial cities in the country. Fondly called as the Manchester of India, it is undoubtedly the most buzzing metropolis in the state. Known far and wide for its hosiery industry, Ludhiana has earned a name globally. Rapid industrialization has made it a major producer of many products, many of which are exported in good quantities too. Gurudwara Charan Kamal is a major religious site here. It was laid to commemorate the place where Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji had rested while he was encountering a massive attack. Pir-i-Dastgir is also a shrine that draws a lot of pilgrims. The Punjab Agricultural University Museum is a well-known place of interest in Ludhiana. It houses a good collection of old items typical of Punjab. In fact, the building itself is a replica of traditional Punjabi houses. Bhir is an important mosque here built by the legendary Mohammad Ghori.
