Explore the
overwhelming beauty of the wild, the enigmatic purity of nature and
discover a life beyond!
Jim Corbett National Park is
located in Terai, the foothills of the Himalayas in the Nainital
district of Uttaranchal. This is the first wildlife reserve of
India, extending over an area of more than 500 sq km.
The
forest reserve is named after Jim Corbett, the legendary
hunter-turned-conservationist. Corbett, a middle-level officer of
Scottish origin, had rid the Kumaon and Garhwal regions of
man-eating tigers and leopards. During his last days in British
India, Corbett transformed into a conservationist and worked for the
betterment of Indian wildlife.
The tourist season in Corbett
begins in November every year and closes in June.
The
Solluna Resort is nestled within the protected reserve forest of
the Park. The Resort is operational, and in the midst of being
reurbished. Post upgradation, the Resort would be rebranded ‘Solluna
Sarovar Premier’.
The Resort spreads over 25 acres, and is
situated on a river bank. The Solluna Resort comprises 18 individual
cottages, a conference hall, a restaurant and bar and a swimming
pool. The upgrades include increasing the number of cottages to
above 40.

Places Of Interest :
Spotting Flora and Fauna
It is
thrilling to watch the mysteries of wildlife unfold. The onset of
March is best suited for animal viewing. Among thick covers of sal
trees, unabated growth of lantana bushes, and dense long grass one
can spot elusive tigers (Corbett has the highest density of
Tigers in the country), leopards, elephant herds, jungle cats,
caracal, wild boars, bears, wild dogs, jackals, spotted deer and hog
deer. Among reptiles crocodiles, rock pythons, vipers, cobras,
and kraits inhabit the park.
The first two-three months of the
tourist season are ideal for bird watching. During this season, one
can spot over 500 species of winged creatures and birdlife. A wide
variety of wild trees, bushes and shrubs also populate the Park.
The Ramganga River flows through the entire length of the
Park and little forest streams and rivulets tumble through the
ravines. The Ramganga is rich in the magnificent Mahaseer-- a fine
sporting fish.
